After my long hiatus recovering from an accident, I’m excited to back in the saddle and announce the release of Wool Hat Creative’s and my latest film, Snow Rangers: Fresh Tracks, a film we made together with the Colorado Mountain Club. The story follows a close-nit team of snow rangers in the mountains of Colorado while they work to keep people safe, educate the public, and enjoy one of the “best jobs in the world” in one of the most dangerous winter mountain environments in the world. This 20-minute film will be playing around Colorado and we anticipate in a few film festivals as well. In fact, it’s already set to play in the Alta Film Festival in Big Bear, CA on October 23, 2026! At Wool Hat Creative, we take pride in our work and in the team members putting their creativity into action. That is why we are excited to highlight a project by our Communications and Outreach Intern, Jack Yates. Titled “Melting Opportunities,” this interactive website serves as the thesis project for his master’s degree in Media in Public Engagement from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Happy Earth Day friends! Earth Day might be our favorite holiday here at Wool Hat Creative, but really, every day should be Earth Day in our humble opinion. As a media production company, we are dedicated to protecting this planet we call home through stories, film and video, our photography, through our personal actions, through our choice of partnerships and clients, and more. 

Throughout March we have been posting on Instagram about some exceptional womxn that we’ve worked with throughout the years in our film and video projects who are making real differences in the world. For us, every day is women’s day and every month is women’s month. Women should rule world. Full stop. When that happens the world will be a better place.

As you may have seen all about in our previous post, our short film, The Avalanche Hunter, is in the Backcountry Film Festival!

For this project, Wool Hat has teamed up with Howl at the Sun and others to produce a short, not-for-profit, adventure documentary titled “The Avalanche Hunter”. In this film, Roz Reynolds, a winter adventurer and badass avalanche mitigation expert (aka avalanche hunter) blazes trails in her field and paves the way for future generations of women in outdoor adventure and safety.

This short educational documentary follows the intrepid Snow Rangers of Southwest Colorado as they navigate the sweepingly beautiful, and often dangerous, world of the Rocky Mountains, backcountry ski up (and down) mountains, and manage the impacts of rapidly burgeoning winter recreation in the wilderness.
