Production & Social Media Internship with Wool Hat Creative

Position Summary

The intern at Wool Hat Creative will have the opportunity to develop real-world skills in the world of media production and storytelling, with a specific focus on documentaries and videos in the advocacy and outdoor adventure spaces. Interns will gain experience and insight into creating meaningful stories - from the idea phase, to production, all the way to distribution. Social media is also an essential piece of this internship - where interns will be tasked with helping to create engaging, successful content and campaigns for social media outreach.  Interns will collaborate remotely with Wool Hat Creative representatives with regular check in’s over video call and periodic opportunities to work on site with projects, film shoots, office hours etc. as they arise.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants:

  • Pursuing a degree in, and/or with experience in: media production, video production, editing, film, photography, marketing, communication. or journalism. 

  • Who have an understanding of content development for different audiences.

Successful applicants will show/be:

  • Superb writing and proofreading skills

  • Basic proficiency with video/photo editing platforms

  • Flare and familiarity with social media platforms

  • Professional and open communicator that can solve problems, work independently, and with a team

  • Eagerness and ability to quickly learn and grow as an artist and media professional 

  • Ability to multitask and balance life, school, and other responsibilities with this opportunity 

Responsibilities may include (but aren’t limited to)*:

  • 8-10 hours a week for the duration of the semester

  • Working on their own personal creative project

  • Develop social media posts, monitor feedback, and analyze the results

  • Pre-production work (scheduling, organizing, planning)

  • Production work (out on a shoot assisting Phil & Jenna with shooting, lighting, audio) as projects arise

  • Editing (editing small pieces for social media or organizing media files)

  • Other media-related, office, business, or administrative duties to be determined by WHC as they arise

*Passions and existing skills may be considered when determining intern duties.

Additionally, applicants will be great for the role if they: 

  • Are at least 18 years old

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds (such as production gear)

  • Have regular access to a computer and smartphone and social media

  • Have some form of video and editing software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)

  • Have transportation to and from office hours and shoots/projects

Internship Takeaways:

  • Interns will have the opportunity to realize a project of their own (a short video 2-3 minutes, either shot and/or edited by the intern, a photography project, a marketing campaign, etc). The intern will be provided real industry level guidance, feedback and support aimed at helping them grow as a media professional.

  • Dates of internship are flexible based on class/school schedules
