At Wool Hat Creative, we take pride in our work and in the team members putting their creativity into action. That is why we are excited to highlight a project by our Communications and Outreach Intern, Jack Yates. Titled “Melting Opportunities,” this interactive website serves as the thesis project for his master’s degree in Media in Public Engagement from the University of Colorado Boulder.

The project was developed with support from the Wool Hat Creative Internship Program and addresses issues we care about utilizing methods we love, like climate change and protecting where we adventure outdoors with stories and media. The online experience provides an interactive method to explore how climate change impacts various communities tied to winter recreation. It includes interviews and stories from across the American West of individuals with various relations to the industry and how they perceive the future of the ski and snowboarding industry.

For those who enjoy winter sports or are curious about how climate change increasingly impacts our world, we highly encourage you check out his project. For any subsequent questions (or congratulations) about “Melting Opportunities,” you can contact Jack directly by connecting with him through Linkedin. “My internship at WHC was a beneficial opportunity that allowed me to work on topics I care about, such as environmental advocacy and outdoor adventure—helping me to develop my professional skill set and contextualize my thesis project.”
